I love to eat. I especially like to try local food specialties when I travel. This means finding out that there is a difference between barbecue in Texas and barbeque in North Carolina. Who knew! In addition it means I get to eat things that I never get to eat at home like authentic Mexican Food in Arizona, Cajun in Louisiana, Lobster salad in Maine and authentic Chinese food in San Francisco. The travel can get weary after awhile but the culture and experimentation with local food and delicacies makes it an adventure. I hope you give some of these food events a try if you are in these areas this week. Have fun and be sure to bring lots of wash and drys.

Smokin’ on Big Creek BBQ Contest for the United Way of Pleasant Hill is the largest professionally sanctioned barbeque competition in Cass County and has quickly grown to become one of the most popular barbeque events in the area. It is a favorite with teams because it is organized to be extremely cooker-friendly.
