Autumn Leaves, The Sycamores…

Can you fill in the rest…..Moonlight in Vermont? If you got that right, then you are either a fan of great music or a lover of fall. As I mentioned in last weeks blog, over the next few weeks I will be highlighting events that are celebrations of that fabulous season, fall. The themes are derived from the season. Previously I discussed apple festivals, this week I showcase “fall” festivals. Now you have to wonder, what exactly is a fall festival?

Looking over the weeks events, I am pleased to tell you that they sure have a ton of things happening one site. Lots of these events listed food and food courts as an important part. Food is always a necessary ingredient in the success of an event, in my opinion. (I heard that!) Many feature arts and crafts and I am talking 100’s of arts and craft people onsite selling, demonstrating and displaying their talents. Most include live entertainment. Not Uncle Bob playing the harmonica entertainment but regional and national talent. Also almost all feature special sections for children and children’s activities. These include crafts or petting zoos and also some have carnival rides. These are not just fall festivals to give people something to do on a Saturday afternoon. These are some of the biggest and best festival all year. As a matter of fact, I could have listed 100’s of events this week and barely scratched the surface of what is going on around the country.

And I also have a few honorable mentions this week. And the reason is that they are not really “fall festivals”, other than they take place in the fall. They include Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet in Carlisle PA, the Chicago Marathon and Fleet Week in San Francisco. These are very highly regarded events and I mention them in case you happen to be in these areas, they are certainly worth the trip.

As always, these events represent some of the ways people will celebrate in the U.S this week. There may be many different ways that they celebrate fall in your area. You can find out more at http://www.eventcrazy.com. by simple using the search box on the home page to find fun things to do in your backyard. Whatever you do, get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall colors, weather and festivals.
