Possibly a Few of Your Favorite Things

Last week I mentioned the Hershey Car Show as one show tailor made for car lovers. It occurred to me that there are a bunch of events taking place each week that focus on things people love. That’s what makes the event selection process so much fun. We all know that I love food and therefore food events. But lesser known is that I like to walk antique shows and art shows for some great finds which I have purchased over the years. Events can be something for everyone or can be something special someone really loves to do. Although I always advise people to experience all different kinds of events, this week I am going to highlight some events and who should/will attend and why.

There are the Jacksonville Sea and Sky Spectacular Jacksonville, FL and the Amigo Airshow in El Paso TX, for people who love to see planes both on the ground and in the air. The Petit Le Mans in Braselton, GA and the Head of the Charles Regatta Cambridge, MA for people who love racing. They feature world class cars at the former; world class sculling at the latter. In Daytona Beach FL this week is Biketoberfest for people who like to ride or gaze at motorcycles. I have been to this event and it’s perfect for bike lovers. In Fort Lauderdale this week is one of the very best art shows all year the Las Olas Art Fair for people who love creative, original and current artists. There is the Stone Mountain Highland Games event in Stone Mountain, GA for those who love all things Scottish and Oktoberfest in Tulsa OK for those that love all things German. Also, let’s not leave out the Texas Jazz Fest in Corpus Christi, TX for those that love jazz.

I know you have been waiting so here they are; food events! If you happen to be in Circleville OH and you love pumpkin pies (over 23,000) and pumpkin donuts (over 100,000) you won’t want to miss the Circleville Pumpkin Show. If you can’t make that event, there are many other food events. How about the East Texas Yamboree in Gilmer, TX? That is, if yams are your thing. Personally I love um! Another option is to head to Chatsworth NJ if you love everything cranberry. They host their annual Cranberry Festival where the harvest is in just in time for the holiday season.

And finally, for all of you who remember when your mother used to ask, “If all of your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump?”, this week you can say “YES”. That’s because it’s time for the annual New River Gorge Bridge Day in Fayetteville, WV. It is one of the biggest B.A.S.E. jumping events of the year. Thousands of people are leaping off the bridge and I think it’s for the thrill, not to spite their mothers. However, I could be wrong.

As always, this information is to give you some things that are taking place all over the U.S. to get you excited about events this week. I know I mentioned that these events are for people who love certain activities but really any and all of these are great events for everyone. So I think that you need to grab someone you love and find out what event themes work for them. Then use the search box above and find some terrific events in your area this week.
