“Presidential” Selection of Events this Weekend

Ok, I am taking the obvious route this week. I could have gone Valentines Day or I could have gone Mardi Gras but I took the high road, (well at least I think so, lol) and went entirely off the board. So this entitles me to be a little obvious doesn’t it? Not that these aren’t great events but let’s face it, ANYTHING can be classified as “presidential” this weekend. I mean really, a Presidents Weekend Botox Sale? After seeing the movie Lincoln, are you picturing his endorsement of vanity? It seemed to me that he had a few more pressing issues other than wrinkles. Luckily, these events are not sales pitches, they just happen to be events that happen to fall on president’s weekend.

The events have some history themselves. All of the events that I am showcasing this week have been ongoing at least 25 years. Along with the longevity, each has a very loyal following of attendees. They are all really wonderful events in their respective categories; many are the leaders in their categories.  We have three of the greatest art related festivals all year taking place in Florida; Coconut Grove Arts Fest, ArtiGras and the Saint Stephen’s Arts and Crafts Show. Additionally two very old and established boat shows are sailing this week into Grand Rapids and Miami.  There is the Southeastern Wildlife Expo, the National Farm Machinery Show, the Festival of Lights Grand Parade, the Kansas City Sport and Travel Show and the Syracuse Auto Show. I have even thrown in two kind of historical events to try and at least keep the history element of the weekend; Whiskey Flat Days and Olustee Battle Re-Enactment and Festival.

As always, I make it a point to include a kind of overview of events that are coming up in the next week. Sometimes these blog events are ongoing celebrations you can find anywhere in the U.S. this week. Say like Mardi Gras or Valentines Day. But sometimes they are just a potpourri of events that represent things I think you might find interesting. One thing I do know is that there is always something fun happening everywhere. So use the search box above to find events taking place in your backyard this week. Oh and please use it so you can find something more exciting than a Presidents Day Sale!
