Signature Events Top the List this Week

This week I want to highlight some events taking place that have not only managed to exist, they flourish. They are very special events. Typically they are classified as Signature Events and each of them has earned that moniker. It is a designation that shows the event has become extremely important to either the class that they fall in to or the area where they take place. A good example of such an event would be News Years Eve in NY. That event is synonymous with Times Square and vice versa. You could say that event is both a signature event for New York City and also a signature event for New Years Eve.

I included some this week that you may not be that familiar with unless they take place in your area. That’s why I chose them. I wanted to give you all a chance to see some events other than the nationally known ones that have a dramatic impact on the area where they take place. As an example, many years ago, and we won’t discuss just how many, I was on one of my very first road trips; 33 events in 3 weeks. That was a lot of road in one trip! But it was kind of my first long term experience outside my location comfort zone to see how other locations put on events. Everyone knows the signature events in the area where they live. This trip I got to experience what is considered “signature” events in other areas. It was an eye opening experience indeed.

One of the places we visited was Albuquerque around the time of the New Mexico State Fair. Everything and I mean everything was State Fair this and State Fair that. It was overwhelming; state fair car sales, white sales, laundromat fluff and fold specials (I know this one because by the time I got to Albuquerque, I needed a laundromat), restaurant deals, etc. You name it. If it happened or was on sale during the fair, it had “state fair” attached to it. These are the kind of events shift the financial health of the area in to high gear when they take place and they stand the test of time as a reflection of the community where they are hosted.

As always, these events are a mirror image of what kind of events are taking place throughout the country.  If there aren’t any events on this list that you can get to, please use the search box above to find fun events in your area this week. Grab your special someone(s) and just get there! You will be surprised just how much fun you will have when you get there.
