By Jenny Schafer

Celebrity Baby Scoop is joining in on the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS.

In the trending campaign, people are asking 2-3 of their friends to dump a bucket of ice water over their heads. If your friends do not accept the challenge within 24 hours, they must donate $100 to an ALS association of choice.

In the last few weeks, the #IceBucketChallenge has literally soaked some celebrities, including Justin Timerlake, Jimmy Fallon and Martha Stewart. Not to mention, some of our favorite celebrity parents such as Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie, Jessica Alba and Gavin Rossdale. Check out Gwen and Gavin’s video here, and then see their 8-year-old son Kingston also take on the challenge

Pop superstar Jennifer Lopez also took the challenge, and got some help from her 6-year-old twins Max and Emme. The Jenny From the Block singer, 45, shared the video via Instagram.

And we loved Ben Affleck‘s funny Ice Bucket Challenge via Facebook, where he got playful with his wife, fellow actress Jennifer Garner, and their daughters Violet, 8, and Seraphina, 5, erupted in contagious giggles when he threw her into their backyard pool.

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

Celebrity Baby Scoop’s senior editor, Jenny Schafer, lost her father to ALS and created her own video to challenge a few Hollywood moms.

Hollywood insider GG Benitez, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks, Real Housewives of O.C. star Tamra Judge, and Broadway dancer, singer and actress Courtney Lopez.

First to accept the challenge was GG Benitez. See her fun video here (and here) and check out the online buzz from her clients who took the challenge: Mabel’s Labels, POSH Mommy and Freebies2Deals and The Orange Rhino.

Next up for the challenge was Courtney Lopez. Check out this priceless Instagram video, showing her support for the cause — with some help from her adorable 3 1/2-year-old daughter Gia.

“I was nominated by @herscoop and @celebritybabyscoop for the #icebucketchallenge #alsicebucketchallenge!,” Courtney says, then nominates actress Eva Longoria.

“And I nominate @evalongoria and @kearrangiovanni ! #doit,” she continues.

Courtney’s husband, Extra host Mario Lopez, couldn’t help but show his support. The Saved by the Bell alum, 40, went on to tweeting about their video.

Celebrity Moms Share Back To School Tips

bts_tips2014-500x600

By Jenny Schafer

It’s time to start thinking about the back to school season.

While this time of year can cause stress and anxiety, Celebrity Baby Scoop reached out to some savvy celebrity moms – and rounded up top favorite brands – to help beat the back to school chaos.

  • Jennie Garth:

Mystery Girls star Jennie Garth and her ex-husband, Twilight star Peter Facinelli, are parents to three daughters: Luca, 17, Lola, 12, and Fiona, 8. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 42, shares her favorite back to school quote, from none other than Dr. Seuss.

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!”

The mom-of-three went on to share her favorite aspect of the back to school season. “[I love] all the excitement that brews over new classes, new teachers, new clothes and a new year of experiences,” Jennie tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Some of her favorite back to school products? “I love Mabel’s Labels because it makes everything so easy to keep track of — especially when you have 3 girls,” Jennie says. “I also love the Planet Box lunch boxes — they keep everything fresh without hurting the environment.”

  • Rosie Pope:

Pregnant in Heels star Rosie Pope and her husband Daron are parents to four kids: sons J.R., nearly 6, Wells, 3, and daughters Vivienne, 2, and Bridget, 5 months. The mother-of-four, 34, advises moms to start their day earlier than everyone else.

“The more time you give yourself the less stressed you’ll be,” Rosie shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

“I found myself constantly nagging the kids to get dressed, eat breakfast, run to the car, run, run, run,” she admits. “[Then I asked myself] why make the morning so stressful when adding an element of time can make each morning so much more fun. Waking up earlier also means earlier to bed and that gives you a little personal time too.”

As for the back to school season excitement, Rosie says she’s a “total nerd.”

“I’m a total nerd at heart and so I love, love preparing for back to school with stationary buying adventures and picking out this years’ back packs,” she admits. “The more excitement around school, the more your child will want to go and that’s a beautiful thing.”

  • Melissa Joan Hart:

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch alum Melissa Joan Hart and her husband, musician Mark Wilkerson, are parents to three sons: Mason, 8, Brady, 6, and Tucker, nearly 2.

The mom-of-three, 38, talks about the “bittersweet” aspect of the back to school season.

“It’s always bittersweet when the fall arrives and it’s time to get the kiddies back to school,” MJH tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “It marks the end of summer and signifies that your little ones are growing up too quickly.”

That said, the Melissa & Joey actress is sure to count her blessings at the same time.

“But, usually for busy mommies, it can be a blessing to have your days to yourself again — at least for a little while,” she says. “But it also means busy mornings trying to get your picky eaters to hurry and finish their sausage and eggs so they don’t miss the bus or the bell. And it also means the crazy over-scheduled sports routines begin again — not to mention homework.”

The actress goes on to share some of her favorite back to school products that help her smooth-out the transition.

“Some things that help me get my kids back to school ready are Mabel’s Labels because I can make sure all those coats, backpacks, lunch boxes and hats don’t go missing,” says the busy mom-of-three. “It’s always nice for the kids when you send them off with a new first day of school outfit, and of course a new pair of sneakers by Stride Rite that will help them get the most out of walking those hallways and navigating recess times. And Net Nanny is a great tool to help parents feel like they are protecting their kids when they are online attempting to do their homework.”

  • Courtney Lopez:

Extra host Mario Lopez and his wife, Broadway dancer Courtney Lopez, are parents to daughter Gia, nearly 4, and son Dominic, 11 months. The mom-of-two, 32, opens up about the back to school season.

“The back to school brings an excitement to our household,” Courtney tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “We love school!”

Courtney goes on to share some of her favorite back to school products.

“It’s always fun to order Gia’s new Mabel’s Labels to help keep her stuff out of the lost and found, her stylish, yet dependable Stride Rite shoes, and now we have discovered Net Nanny to keep her safe when she uses the internet for any cute little assignments,” she shares. “I just finished reading a book from Melea Johnson (“Create Your Own Money Saving Adventure” from www.freebies2Deals.com) on how to save for all of our back to school goodies, too.”

  • Natalie Morales:

Today Show co-anchor Natalie Morales and husband Joseph Rhodes are parents to two sons: Josh, 10, and Luke, 6. The NBC News star talks about about her love of the back to school season.

“Back to school has always been my favorite time of year,” Natalie tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “Now that I have kids, even more so! It’s about new beginnings, new possibilities and of course back to school shopping.”

The mom-of-two, 42, shares her best tips for getting ready for the season.

“A few weeks before school starts, I always look through my kids clothes and make sure they have everything they need,” she shares. “I have them try on stuff that they may have outgrown and figure out what I need to replace. And I love getting new school supplies. I still remember every year I always loved getting my new Trapper Keeper. With two young boys who lose everything, I also make a point of labeling everything and I love Mabel’s Labels.”

  • Brooke Anderson:

Entertainment Tonight correspondent Brooke Anderson and her husband Jim Walker are parents to daughters Kate, 5, and Lily George, 8 months. The mom-of-two, 36, talks about her love for school and getting her girls ready for class.

“School is the first step in making your dreams a reality,” Brooke shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “My mom was a teacher so I saw firsthand how hard she worked to ensure her students learned as much as possible while also having fun. It’s important to not only nurture learning and reading in our children, but to thank the teachers who dedicate so much to helping kids grow and achieve.”

And it’s a bittersweet school season for her elder daughter who is entering “big girl school.”

“I love the fresh start and new beginning that comes with every back to school season,” Brooke says. “A new backpack, pencil set, and first day outfit add to the excitement too. I have to say, I’m a little emotional about it this year as my daughter graduated preschool and is starting kindergarten — real school! Where did my little baby go? Although I’m anxious, luckily she is thrilled and cannot wait to begin ‘big girl’ school. So no need to worry! Right?!”

Brooke goes on to share some of her best tips – and products – for the back to school season.

“When I say I label everything with Mabel’s Labels, I label everything – backpack, lunch bag, clothes, shoes,” she admits. “It gives me peace of mind that her belongings will always make their way back to her even if she misplaces them (as 5-year olds tend to do). And bonus, the labels are super cute and fun. My daughter loves to pick out her own clothes and shoes and I’m sure the first day outfit will be a big deal [laughs]. She will probably choose her fave Hello Kitty Stride Rite kicks to give her a little luck as she navigates kindergarten.”

  • Nina Garcia:

Project Runway host Nina Garcia and husband David Conrod are parents to two sons: Lucas, 7, and Alexander, nearly 4.

“I love to see my kids energized by the back to school excitement,” the mom-of-two, 49, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “They can’t wait to see their friends, meet their new teachers, and get back to their routine.”

As for getting her sons prepared for class, Nina enjoys every moment.

“We really enjoy planning for back to school and buying their uniforms for school and sports,” Nina shares. “We order most of our back to school clothes from Lands Ends, LL Bean, Patagonia and Brooks Bros. We use Mabel’s Labels to organize it all.”

She adds: “I remember the excitement that I felt when going back to school. I enjoy seeing the excitement now in my kids and I do my very best to make it a family planning event.”

  • Molly Mesnick:

Bachelor couple Jason and Molly Mesnick are proud parents to 1-year-old daughter Riley.

“When I was a kid, buying all of my new school supplies was the best part of getting ready to go back to school,” Molly tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “I still love doing that with Ty today,” she says of her 9-year-old stepson.

Some of her favorite back to school products?  “I love Mabel’s Labels, the reality star, 29, says. “[They are] perfect for the kids’ lunch boxes, gym shoes, and school supplies. I also love to stock up on Stride Rite shoes. The kids wear through them so quickly, so we’ll get them a few pairs for every occasion and activity.”

  • Garcelle Beauvais:

NYPD Blue star Garcelle Beauvais is proud mom to three sons: Oliver, 23, and twins Jax and Jaid, nearly 7.

With her second children’s book titled, I Am Living In Two Homes, coming out August 19 on Amazon, the actress-singer, 47, shares her favorite mommy motto.

“I always say, ‘Be the BEST you can be,’ to my boys,” Garcelle shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

As for her favorite aspects of getting back to school, the mom-of-three admits she gets wrapped up in the excitement of the season.

“I love the shopping, of course,” she laughs. “Target is our go-to store. I also love the excitement of getting to see which teacher we get and which friends are in the boys class.”

And she shares her favorite back to school products. “[I love getting new] backpacks, Stride Rite sneakers, cool water bottles, all labeled with Mabel’s Labels.”

  • Chandie and Joey Lawrence:

“Here we go again” is Chandie and Joey Lawrence‘s favorite back to school quote. The couple are parents to daughters Charleston, 8, and Liberty, 4.

As for their favorite aspect of the back to school season, Chandie says it’s “the excitement from our girls.” She adds: “Getting new lunch boxes, backpacks and clothes. And, them seeing their friends again! We get excited seeing all the new things they are learning and remembering.”

The couple went on to list their favorite back to school products.

“[We love] Mabel’s Labels – gotta label things, right?” they laugh. “[We also use] Thirty-One gifts lunch totes and utility totes for dance and sports; Funkins cloth napkins (perfect little place mats for the not so clean lunch room tables); Sistema food containers (they are totally amazing); Nalgene water bottles; and of course the LL Bean backpack (they are indestructible). As well, Lunch Box Love have these little love notes with fun trivia which a staple for the lunch bags — the perfect reminder that they are being thought of during the day.”

Larry King: “You Don’t Divorce Your Children”

Larry King and son do lunch at Nate 'n Al's

We all know Larry King as the world-renowned TV anchor who kept Americans in-the-know on global happenings for 25 years via his CNN show, Larry King Live.

My Life As A Dad, the popular web series that delves into the lives of celebrity fathers, recently chatted with Larry King about his experience in being a dad to five children, two of which were born almost four decades after his first children.

Larry King’s son Larry, Jr., adopted son Andy, and daughter Chaia were born in the 60′s, a hectic time when his promising and long-withstanding broadcast journalism career took off. In the interview, Larry shares how he thinks his earlier children might view how he fathers his sons Chance (b. 1999) and Cannon (b. 2000) differently now.

“I don’t know if they are hurt by it…they don’t say it,” Larry says. “They all pretty much handle it very well and they love their younger brothers. But I imagine that there is a little resentment. That would be normal, you know, why he wasn’t there for me all the time. It’s the kind of life I led and if I could do a do-over again, I would have spent more time.”

The reputable TV anchor goes on to share his greatest piece of advice for parents and discloses one of his biggest regrets. His advice for parents: “The advice I would give is ‘you can’t get it back.’ The day you didn’t go to the game, you can’t get that back. You didn’t go. The hotel room that goes unsold will never be sold. The day you didn’t spend, you didn’t spend. That is a big regret of mine; that I didn’t do more.”

He also discusses how many men don’t understand real love until they have a child.

“It’s the first time in your life,” he shares. “You don’t have to love your wife–that’s why there is divorce. You don’t divorce your children. There are things about your children that will annoy you, but the love is spectacular.”

He also shares a special moment he had at one of his son’s baseball games: “Yesterday, my son pitched three scoreless innings for Notre Dame’s scrimmage game. I was sitting in the stands at the beautiful field at Notre Dame. He was pitching and standing on the mound with that regal look…I just looked at him and could almost cry. I flashed back to the day he was born and the day I took him to his first game. And there he is, standing with that regal look. He struck out a guy…that jolt just goes through your heart. He asked me, ‘Do you root for me more than you root for the Dodgers?’ and I said, ‘Of course!’”

And does he have any thoughts about the fatherhood experience?

“Fatherhood is fantastic, fantastic.,” Larry states. “Whatever is second best is a distant second.”

northbday

By: CelebrityBabyScoop

Let’s look at five celebrity tots whose birthday bashes rank among the most lavish seen in the last few years.

  • North West

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West went all out for North’s first birthday party, which was branded by the couple as “Kidchella.” The mini music festival in Calabasas, California, boasted a karaoke stage, Ferris wheel and entertainment for guests of all ages. • Blue Ivy

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z spared no expense to celebrate their daughter’s first birthday. Costumes, jewelry and gifts were provided for all of Blue Ivy’s friends and their parents. In addition to the party and an extravagant cake, Blue Ivy received a diamond-encrusted Barbie from her parents valued at $80,000.

  • Suri Cruise

For her fifth birthdaySuri’s parents – Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes threw her a circus-themed party complete with live elephants and giraffes. The party reportedly cost some $20,000 and was thrown at the private residence shared by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes at the time.

Eli Manning: “I Try To Enjoy Every Moment I Have With My Family”

Oral-B® and March of Dimes Father's Day Event 2014

By: CelebrityBabyScoop

This Father’s Day, Oral-B honored dads with the help of Eli Manning, New York Giants quarterback and proud dad, and March of Dimes, an organization that celebrates mothers and fathers every day. Manning, 33, has had great success on the field. But his most cherished memories have nothing to do with roaring crowds, smart plays or perfect passes. Celebrity Baby Scoop spoke with Eli about spending time with his family, his father, football great Archie Manning, and his two young daughters – Ava, 3 , and Lucy, 1.

CBS: Tell us about your partnership with Oral B and the March of Dimes. How did you
get involved? What inspired you to participate in this Father’s Day celebration?

EM: “I’m thrilled to partner with Oral-B and March of Dimes this Father’s Day because being a dad is my most important responsibility. As a young boy, I can remember throwing around the football with my dad in the front yard and now, I get to make my own special memories with my daughters. I’m proud to partner with Oral-B and March of Dimes to celebrate those little moments between fathers and children, no matter where they live or what they do.”

CBS: How does your family celebrate Father’s Day? What traditions mean the most to
you?

EM: “My family and I spend the holiday outside; playing games and running around. As a boy, my favorite Father’s Day memory was playing with my dad and brothers in the backyard. We were always very active.”

CBS: How influential has your Dad been in your parenting style? What do you admire
most about your Dad?

EM: “My dad has been extremely influential in my parenting style. I admire that my dad always set a good example about being a good sport. After a game, my dad didn’t care about winning or losing. He would give us a hug and remind us not take it too seriously. My dad also never tried to live his athletic career or aspirations through me and my brothers – if we wanted help with a play or throw, he would of course help us but we’d have to ask.”

CBS: What kinds of activities do you enjoy doing as a family?

EM: “As a family, we enjoy being outside as much as possible and playing games together. We have a lot of energy and lots of activities to keep us busy.”

CBS: You keep a busy travel schedule during football season, how do you find balance
between football and family?

EM: “When I come home after a game, I try to leave the game behind me and really focus on my family and being a good dad. Time goes by quickly, so I try to enjoy every moment I have with my family.”

CBS: The 2014 football season looks to be a good one, which matchups are you most
looking forward to?

EM: “As a team, we’re feeling very good about the upcoming season and confident in our new offensive system. Each week is going to be a good challenge for us.”

Tamera Mowry-Housley: “I’ve Learned To Trust My Mother Instincts”

Tamera

By: CelebrityBabyScoop

Sister, Sister star Tamera Mowry-Housley attended the charitable Race to Erase MS event that helped to spread awareness of MS and raise money for the cause. The mom-of-one, to son Aden, 1, says “having fun in a selfless way” was a major highlight of the event.

Tamera chats with Celebrity Baby Scoop about her experience at Race to Erase MS, her greatest fashion icons, and how she’s “been very blessed with a happy baby.” She goes on to discuss whether there are any plans for another baby, her 80/20 rule for losing the baby weight, and how she is “really excited to do The Real” in September.

CBS: You recently attended the Race to Erase MS event. What was the event all about? What was the highlight of the event?

TMH: “Basically, it was a charity event that helped to spread awareness of MS. We’ve gone so far in finding ways to help cope with the disease. It was a huge auction to help raise money for the cause.

The highlight was being around people who love to help and take time out of their day to do something great. At the same time, you get to dress up and have fun. You’re having fun in a selfless way.”

CBS: You truly wowed the room with the cranberry Christian Dior dress and natural curls! What was the inspiration behind the look? Who are your greatest fashion icons?

TMH: “Honestly, I wanted to be comfortable. That day, I was a little bit bloated and I wanted to be in a dress that I was comfortable in. I didn’t want to be in a skin-tight outfit…I wanted to be in an outfit that I could move around in. Also, when people go to cocktail events, they always wear black, so I wanted to wear colors.

In regard to my greatest fashion icons, definitely Audrey Hepburn. I think her birthday was recently too. I absolutely love her, because all of her pieces were very classic. It didn’t matter what time or era it was– if you looked at her clothes, you would think to yourself, ‘I would wear that today.’ She was a woman who personified class—class and elegance. I also love Diane von Furstenberg and Stella McCartney. All of these women just have so much class.”

CBS: How is your son, Aden, doing? Has he reached any exciting milestones that you would like to share?

TMH: “Aden is fantastic! What he is loving now is saying ‘no.’ But he says other things too, like ‘Mama.’ He says ‘Daddy’ too, which is interesting, because he doesn’t say ‘Mommy’ or ‘Dad.’ Isn’t that interesting? If he says ‘Daddy,’ you would think that he would say ‘Mommy,’ but he calls me ‘Mama.’ He says ‘no,’ ‘go,’ and ‘yay,’ so he’s talking a lot. He’s also connecting words now. The other day, he said, ‘Let’s go, but kind of.’ So it’s not just one word; he’s trying to form sentences.

He really is the love of my life and he’s a very smart kid. He knows what he wants and when he wants it. Not only that, do you know what I really love about Aden? He loves the idea of family, because he loves being around Mommy and Daddy. If it is just me by myself, yes, he loves me and has fun. However, the moment his dad comes home and we’re together, his eyes light up. If we’re in the car and he knows mommy and daddy are in the car, he’s just the happiest baby. We’ve been very blessed with a happy baby. He’s always laughing, smiling, and giggling, which is a blessing.”

CBS: How does this second year of motherhood compare to the first year?

TMH: “I’m much more relaxed because during the first year, you’re trying to figure everything out. The second year, you’re okay and of course before you get used to one thing, they’re on to the next. You have to get used to another rhythm and another milestone. The thing is, I am a lot more confident in myself and in my mother instincts. I’ve learned to trust my mother instincts.”

CBS: Are there any plans for baby no. 2?

TMH: “Absolutely! I can’t wait. The timing has to be right, and, ultimately, I am not the one—I am but I am not—in charge of that. If I could have a baby very soon, we would be very happy.”

CBS: You recently debuted your post-baby bikini body for InTouch and looked fantastic! What are your best tips for new moms trying to lose the baby weight?

TMH: “Honestly, if you want to lose the weight, I’ve learned that there is no easy formula. You basically have to work hard, work out, and eat right. Eating right is 80% of the battle, and that’s what I’ve learned. You could work out until you’re just exhausted, but if you’re not eating right, then the weight is not going to come off. Eating clean really did it for me. For example, if I wanted to have bread. I would eat gluten free bread. If I wanted to have a cracker, I would eat gluten free crackers. I actually love gluten free bread now. It’s also about trying to stay away from sugar and salt.

However, don’t limit yourself too much. I believe in the 80/20 rule, meaning 80% of the time, eat very clean and healthy. Twenty percent of the time, allow yourself to eat whatever you want.”

CBS: What plans do you have for the summer?

TMH: “I plan on staying up north with my family in Napa. I absolutely love it up there in the summer. I like just being in our house, by the pool, and enjoying the scenery the sun, and, of course, the wine.” [laughs]

CBS: Do you have any upcoming projects you would like to share?

TMH: “Yes! I can’t really say anything yet, because it is not 100% closed. I will be doing a couple of things, but you know how it is, you can’t really say anything until they give you the ‘okay.’ The one thing I can talk about is that I am really excited to do The Real. That will be coming up in September, and we have a start date of September 15th. I just can’t wait to sit down with my girls and have girl chat. I am really excited!”

Brooke Burke-Charvet: “I Try To Lead By Example”

Brooke Brooke-Charvet For Approval

By: CelebrityBabyScoop

Brooke Burke-Charvet’s new line of workout apparel – Caelum promises to help achieve fitness goals while staying stylish all for under $100.  Celebrity Baby Scoop caught up with the always on-the-go mom of four to talk about Caelum and where her inspiration came from.

CBS: Tell us about your recent photo shoot in Venice Beach for your fitness line, Caelum Campaign. Was it nerve-wracking getting in those teeny tiny outfits for the camera?

BB: “We decided to let Venice Beach be the home for the Caelum Campaign photo shoot. I absolutely love the energy in Venice Beach so we chose to use graffiti walls and have the heart of Southern California be the backdrop for the launch of the line.

The line offers styles for every type of woman and the goal is to inspire women to dress the part and live their fittest life.”

CBS: Tell us all about the brand. It looks colorful and cozy. What inspired the various designs?

BB: “My goal for Caelum is to inspire women to get fit and dress the part. I always say, if you are going to sweat to do it in style J.

I created Caelum, derived from the acronym that defines the brand: ‘core, active, evolve, live, uplift and motivate,’ for women with active, on-the-go lifestyles.

I also believe that fitness is fashion! This line was inspired by seasonal colors and current fashion trends so women can have fun when they are pulling their fitness wardrobe out of their closet!”

CBS: We hear the line will be available in Nordstrom. Congrats, and tell us more!

BB: “Thank you! I am very excited that a two year dream is becoming a reality and Nordstrom is the perfect home to launch my brand.

Right now, the line is available at Nordstrom.com and within the next week, will be available in Nordstrom stores across the country.”

CBS: How do you stay in check re. body image and staying healthy? How do you bring a healthy message home to your daughters? To your son?

BB: “It is very tricky. Right now, my older girls are totally into fitness, which I think is great. I try to never use words like ‘fat’ or ‘skinny’ and instead I talk about being healthy, strong and getting fit. I try to lead by example, because working out is so much more than just the body. It is about mind, body and souls as well as the benefits of choosing to be active go so much deeper than the surface.”

CBS: Shall we watch for a fitness DVD to follow? Maybe you’ll be helping moms to get back into shape post-baby?

BB: “I currently have a DVD with Sony and have already produced four titles and plan on producing four more in the next year. For these DVDs’ I did not just lend my name, but instead I developed workouts such as Sexy Abs, 30 Day Slim Down, Tone and Tighten and Strength & Condition that individuals at a variety of different fitness levels can use and truly work!”

CBS: What’s with Hollywood’s obsession to lose the baby weight fast? What’s your best advice to new moms in the postpartum period?

BB: “I totally believe in belly binding! I wrapped my post pregnancy belly in a belly binding sleeve I developed, Tauts, for forty days and forty nights. This totally helped support the baggy baby skin and forced me to keep my core engaged. I really truly believe this is the best natural approach to getting back in shape.

I will say it takes a miracle to make and grow a baby. All women need to embrace the time and anything that happens to their bodies is so worth it, but it should not be used as an excuse. Stay healthy, stay strong and be positive… remember the pregnancy belly does not have to be forever.”

CBS: Tell us your best tips for moms wanting to get started in a regular fitness routine. What’s the key to success?

BB: “I firmly believe you have to be stronger than your excuses. There are a lot of tips and tricks, but no real secrets.

Making a commitment with a friend, signing up for a gym membership, purchasing a DVD, signing up for a workout class are all really helping and keep you honest. I also think women need to mix up their workouts, set reasonable goals and make the commitment to start.

If you are not sweating, you are not working out hard enough. So push yourself to your limits, write it down and make a schedule that allows you to be as equally important as everyone else is in your life. Make fitness a priority.”

CBS: How are your kids doing? Do they enjoy working out with you? Or are they into sports? Maybe they like both?

BB: “My kids are doing awesome! They love to workout with me. I really enjoy family fitness and sometimes will bring my son to a class and I love bringing my older girls to my Booty Burn class. It is a fun, rhythmic and free space for everyone to have a blast.”

Offering the perfect balance of performance and style, Caelum’s design aesthetic is luxe, modern minimalism using soft, stylish and functional fabrics. Providing maximum performance and comfort for a better fit and a better workout at an affordable price, Caelum apparel will help achieve fitness goals while staying stylish all for under $100. Caelum will be available at Nordstrom stores nationwide in early May.

Debbie Matenopoulos: “I Am So Excited About The Baby”

Debbie_Matenopoulos

By: CelebrityBabyScoop

The View alum Debbie Matenopoulos is “excited about every aspect” of impending motherhood. Expecting her first child later this year, the mom-to-be, 39, says she hopes for a natural birth and is reading What to Expect When Expecting to help her prepare for the baby.

Debbie also opens up about her regular role on Home & Family and her new book, It’s All Greek to Me, which she calls her “first born baby.” She goes on to talk about losing her father to ALS, meeting her husband during the grieving process, and keeping in touch with Meredith Vieira from The View.

CBS: Congratulations on your pregnancy! How are you feeling?

DM: “I am so excited about the baby. I feel so fortunate that the universe has blessed us with this unexpected surprise. I am feeling great…now. However, for the first 3 1/2 months, I wasn’t feeling so hot. I was really tired and nauseous all day. It should be called ‘all day sickness’ instead of ‘morning sickness.’ ”

CBS: Congratulations also on your marriage! Tell us how you met your husband and a little bit about your love story.

DM: “Thank you! I met my hubby through friends a little over 2 years ago. I was going through a very tough time in my life and was definitely not looking for love. I had just lost my father to a horribly debilitating disease, ALS, and had not been out with friends in 5 months. My girlfriends dragged me to a Labor Day party and that’s where we met.

Although I thought he was incredibly charming and handsome, I was still mourning the loss of my father and I wasn’t emotionally or mentally available. After hanging out with him for about 2 hours at the party, I excused myself to the ladies room and then slipped out without saying goodbye to anyone. He tried to track me down for two months and kept asking my friends for my number. And then finally one night I was at a mutual friend of ours restaurant and our friend called him and said, ‘If you wanna see her again, you better come now.’ He was there within 20 minutes and came right up to me and said, ‘This time you can’t leave.’ And we’ve been together ever since.”

CBS: Do you have a birth plan? Are you hoping on a natural birth?

DM: “I don’t have a birth plan. I am just getting used to the fact that I am pregnant [laughs]. I would ideally like to give birth naturally, but I know things don’t always work out that way. I do know I will do my best to have a natural birth. My biggest hope for the birth is that the baby is healthy. Everything else is secondary.”

CBS: Are you excited about motherhood? Have you always wanted kids? How are you preparing for the baby? Reading all the books?

DM: “I am excited about every aspect of motherhood. It’s all new to me and I’m really looking forward to it. I am focusing on having this baby first and who knows what the future holds, but god willing, I’d like to give this baby a sibling at some point as well.

As far as preparing for motherhood, I have been taking lots of advice from my friends who are already mothers and I have been reading, What to Expect When Expecting. It’s the greatest book ever — so helpful. I have always wanted children and I feel like right now is the perfect time.”

CBS: We’ve been fans of yours since you appeared on the original cast of The View. Tell us how life has changed since then. Did that job change everything for you? Do you still keep in touch with those original co-hosts?

DM: “Thanks for being my longtime fans! That means a lot. My life has changed so much since those days. I was only 21-years-old. The experience of being on The View was the most defining moment in my television career. I owe all of my successes to Barbara Walters.

Although looking back, I was probably too young to have much of a ‘view’ about the world at that time, it was an amazing experience and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I am better suited for The View at this point in my life than I was back then because I now have a well of experience to draw from.

I do still keep in touch with Meredith [Vieira] and always love to see all of the ladies whenever we happen to be in the same place. They are all really great women.”

CBS: You often appear on Home & Family. Tell us more about that show and your recurring role. Please also tell us about your book, It’s All Greek to Me. Do you look to cook? Tell us about the recipes and inspiration behind the book.

DM: “I am currently one of the cast members on Home & Family on The Hallmark Channel. I cover everything fashion, and I also do makeovers every Monday on deserving women and men that often have very compelling stories — sometimes heart warming, sometimes heart wrenching. I really love my job. We have such a great time on set. We are truly like a real family.

It’s All Greek to Me is my first-born baby [laughs]. It is my first cookbook that was just released on April 28. I worked harder on this project than I have on anything else in my career and I am very proud of it.

I initially set out to write this book because I love to cook and often have dinner parties and cook everything from scratch myself. All the recipes, however, are my families’ century old recipes and I wanted to share them with the world. They are not only delicious, but they are also incredibly healthy for you.

I truly believe that we humans were intended to eat a traditional Mediterranean diet rich in whole foods from our earth. But I also believe that we don’t have to deprive ourselves to be healthy. The recipes in this book are absolutely delicious, satiating and incredibly good for you. This book started as a cookbook, but throughout the process, turned into so much more than that. It became my love letter to Greece, where we traveled to make the book and where we shot the whole thing. I really, really loved this experience.”

CBS: Besides motherhood, do you have any special upcoming projects?

DM: “I hope to continue writing and creating cookbooks and building a following in the food space for years to come. It seems like a natural progression as I begin the nesting phase of my life. I want to begin to create things that my children will be proud of someday, and that will allow me to spend as much time as I can with my family. To me, family is the most important thing in life.”

Home & Family airs weekdays at 10 am on Hallmark Channel.
